Unrequited love is a deep, intoxicating and dreadful loop of almosts and somedays. Want to move on? Here are some practical tips.

“The love that lasts longest is the love that is never returned.” — W. Somerset Maugham

People who say you should “just move on” have never experienced what it’s like to love another with everything you have and live solely on hope.

We have all had feelings for someone who did not reciprocate, right? That’s normal. Let’s be honest though, unrequited love isn’t a sweet, little crush. It’s got depth and it’s got teeth. It is the closest thing to the real thing, and that’s what makes it so dangerous.

Unfortunately, most often, unrequited love happens with someone we have to see on a regular basis. Maybe she is your co-worker, maybe he is your classmate. Maybe you’ve been in love with your best friend for five years.

Here are some practical things you should do while dealing with the pain of unrequited love:

  1. Realize that it’s about you
There is something about anticipation that you crave. You fucking love the almosts…
